My Next Mobile Phone - 2020

I can't hide that I'm an Android mobile phones geek. I follow all mobile phones news, I watch live events for most mobile companies and I'm subscribed to a lot of Youtube channels that cover all mobile phones reviews, news, etc.

I hold different Android phones. Below a list for Android mobile phones I used:

• Samsung Galaxy S II (I9100) : May 2012 - May 2014
• Samsung Galaxy S III (I9300) : May 2014 - May 2015
• Asus Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML) : May 2015 - November 2016
• Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro : November 2016 - August 2017
• Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus (G955F) : August 2017 to date

Before I switch from Asus Zenfone 2, I was confused between Google Pixel, Oneplus 3 and Xiaomi Mi 5. I made a lot of research and I watched plenty of Youtube reviews. All have almost perfect hardware specs but I decided to go with Mi 5 at the end mainly for its price.

Unfortunately, it was a wrong choice, I discovered that few months after I started using Mi 5. Unlike many others, my personal experience with Xiamoi Mi 5 was horrible for numerous reasons. I might have a separate post about that topic. 

However, when I was searching for a new phone after Mi 5, I don't know why I was afraid to invest my money in a new mobile brand, I mean in particular Oneplus. I admit that I really wanted to buy Oneplus 5 phone. Oneplus phones started to be very popular and getting better over time. I felt I should go back to phone that I knew, I used and I liked. Samsung was in the first place. I got the Galaxy S8 Plus which is my phone since August 2017 until now.  

I enjoyed my S8 Plus but I always kept an eye on other phones: Google Pixel (formerly Google Nexus), Galaxy Note and Oneplus series. Google Pixel and Galaxy Note were well known series unlike Oneplus phones. Oneplus built a very good reputation recent years; Dash Charge which was lunched with Oneplus 3 (60% in 30 min), the first company who introduced 90Hz refresh rate for AMOLED screen and their Oxygen OS was always the number one for Android phones. Oneplus is now among the best in Android phones in 2020.

My plan is to have a new mobile phone by the end of this year. Since S8 Plus is still doing great, Black Friday sale is the expected date to buy a new phone (27 Nov). This time I feel I'm more confident to start a new journey with a new brand/series. Until now I believe my next phone is One Plus 8 Pro, it ticks all the boxes that I want. In the same time, I'm looking for what Galaxy Note 20 and Google Pixel 5 will bring to the table even though last three years Oxygen OS always made me wanted to buy a Oneplus mobile.

Those are my thought for my new mobile phone this year. I might go into details in a different post why I'll go with Oneplus phone.
